Nanosized TiO2 photocatalyst has attracted widely attentions due to its good characteristics such as nontoxicity, strong oxidation capability and stability. However, the practical application course is hold back because of the low quantum efficiency and the low efficiency for utilizing solar light. The modified methods of doping Zn, DBS surface capping, combining doping with capping are used in this paper. The samples are characterized by means of XRD, TG-DTA, IR, TEM SEM, SPS, PL. The mechanism and effects of modification on TiO2 nanoparticles are investigated and discussed principally. The results show that Zn-doping increases the concentration of surface oxygen vacancies and the separate efficiency of photoinduced electron/hole pairs, and the dispersibility of nanoparticles and separate efficiency of photoinduced electron/hole pairs are improved after DBS capping. The photocatalytic activities are enhanced by Zn-doping and DBS-capping. Co-modified nanoparticles exhibit higher photocatalytic performance because of having merits of doping and capping.
