The woven fabric for shape weaving is an essential fiber reinforcement for making high performance and net shape composites. Integral multilayer fabric with a rough shape for goods, which is currently developed for application areas such as aviation and aerospace and so on, has the main drawbacks of complex manufacturing techniques, specified equipment, high investment and single variety of fabric, together with low mechanization power which lead to a limitation of civilian uses. The woven fabric for shape weaving of this study was annular woven fabric for shaping winding, which was produced by a weaving machine with rebuilt shaping mechanisms. It can be used directly to warp rotatory parts without cutting. With advantages of low cost and wide uses etc, the fabric is not only able to be used in areas of aviation and aerospace, but also in industrial fields, such as automobiles and chemical engineering and the like.The study mainly focused on annular woven fabric for shaping winding, expatiating on weaving theory of annular fabric, design of an even structure, weaving methods and then manufacturing annular fabrics. As different radii in both sides of the shape control roller, a greater length of warp yarns being taken-up at a higher speed were needed in its larger side .As a result, filling yarns in smaller side lagged behind and shearing distortion occurred, which definitively affected the shape of fabric. In order to reduce fabric' s shear deformation and thus produce performs with higher shaping precision, the study based on the premise that met weaving requirements improved the let-off , beating and take-up mechanisms in the weaving machine.Since shear deformation existed during weaving fabric for shape winding, it was one of important investigations to analyze shear deformation of fabric so as to fulfill the design of woven fabric for shape winding. Three plain fabrics were carried out KES-F shear test and two of them picture frame shear test. The result indicated that the same fabric, by use of picture frame shear test, was able to reach greater shear deformation, whereas KES-F shear test could make a relatively precise simulation on shear deformation during weaving fabric for shape winding.For the sake of making a concrete research on influences of shearing distortion on geometrical structure parameters of woven fabric for shape winding, the study being in virtue of microphotographics analysed microstructure of plain fabrics during KES-F shear test ,and then put forward a geometrical assumption model of sinusoidal curves regarding the shape of yarn cross-section and undulation .The geometric model presented here, combined with geometrical model of Kemp racetrack cross-section, predicted fiber volume fraction of warp yarns ,filling yarns and fabric. By making a comparison between the two models, it had been found that geometrical model of sinusoidal curves was more suitable to predict tight fabrics of transverse compressed warp yarns and filling yarns.
