This paper reviews the properties and applications of nano-magnesia. Comprehensively analysis the technology processes of the preparation of nanomagnesia. Establish the scaleup experiment policy of nanomagnesia preparation with Central Tornado Flow Stirring Vessel on the basis of theory and pre-experiments. Optimize the optimal technology parameters by analyzing results of experiments. Finally, by modifying the nanomagnesia with AOT, obtain more dispersedly and steadily nanomagnesia particles which connect with AOT by chemical bond. Conclusion:1, In reaction system which adopt pilot production of nanomagnesia with Central Tornado Flow Stirring Vessel by liquid method, taking sodium carbonate and magnesium chloride as raw materials, the Central Tornado Flow Stirring Vessel can be contented with the command of heat and mass exchange, equably distributing the temperature, dispersing the precursor of magnesium carbonate in reactor.2, During the reaction, the dispersant of butanethiol can effectively confine the grownup of magnesium carbonate, disperse and stable the suspend liquid of magnesium carbonate.3, The optimization technology of the pilot preparation of nanomagnesia is as follows: reaction temperature, 30°C;reaction time, 30min;mixing velocity, 350r/min;concentration of magnesium chloride, 2mol/L;the concentration of sodium carbonate, 2. 5mol/L;the quantity of butanethiol 9.6mL;condition of calcinations, calcinations 90min at 500°C. Under optimization condition, can obtain the 14nm mean diameter magnesia particles.4, Modifying the magnesia with AOT, can make the surface of magnesia connect with AOT by chemical bond, obtaining more stably and equally nanomagnesia particles. The optimization modification condition is asfollows: temperature of modification, 40°C;time of modification, 45min;concentration of modifying agent, 2*10~2mol ? L"1. The mean diameter ofmagnesia after modifying is 10nm.
