With the quick development of our national economy, more and more resources are needed in developing economy. Although people have gained many benefits in mining, many geological hazards have occurred at the same time because of the improper mining, making local people and mining distinct have much loss of money. The major reasons are that we have not completely understanded the mechanism of mining subsidence and surface deformation. And we also can not solve the relationship between distinct of mining and surface deformation in theory. In the past, the study on this facet is too simple both in theories and methods, and the practicality is limit. The relationship between the mechanism of mining subsidence and surface deformation has been discussed as the following in the paper:1. Based on collecting previous data and theoretical achievements, the mingingoverburden strata , especially the feature of deformation and stress variation in mining are studied in the article. Using the theory of stochastic dielectric, the laws of deformation in space of different angle in coal layers have been deduced.2. According to analyzing the practical survey data, taking all sorts of factors such as character of overburden strata, management of roof and mining, rate of mining depth and thickness , mining area and mining speed into account, the thesis proposed rheological model and the calculating method of model parameters, and summed up law of the speed of subsidence with the change of time in the view of rheology. Meanwhile, author put forward the concept of surface retardation time which can be take as both degradation index of mining influence and separating point to subsidence stages.3. At last, taking Xiayukou mining distinct which lies in Hancheng city of Shaanxi province as example, the thesis has applied theoretical system which had been built to analyze situation of surface deformation of Liuling village in Xiayukuo, and compared with the practical results, which has proved correctness and practicality of the theoretical system.
