In this thesis, a series 3D porous diamond frameworks of [M3(HCOO)6] have been synthesized and their structures, magnetic properties, thermal stability, H2/N2 sorption and guest inclusion behaviors have been characterized. This work includes several parts. (1) The current research on porous magnet is reviewed. (2) A porous magnet of [Fe3(HCOO)6] with open diamond framework based on Fe-centered FeFe4 tetrahedral nodes, has been successfully prepared by the conventional solution chemistry method. The framework displays permanent porosity, high thermal stability, significant H2/N2 sorption and wide spectrum of guest inclusion behavior. The guest inclusion compounds display guest-modulated magnetic properties such as guest-dependent critical temperatures. (3) The same kind, non-magnetic framework of [Zn3(HCOO)6] has been prepared and it possesses similar guest inclusion behavior, thermal stability and significant H2/N2 sorption at liquid nitrogen temperature. (4) A series of mixed metal porous magnets of [Fe)xZn3-x(HCOO)6] with x=2.66,2.43,2.22, 1.78, 1.03, 0.26 have been synthesized successfully by employing different ratios of Fe2+ and Zn2+ in synthesis. Magnetic measurements show that they display interesting magnetic behaviors from 3D long-range ordering via spin glass, superparamagnetism, finally to paramagnetism with the increasing of the content of the diamagnetic metal ion Zn2+.
