Phytosterol mixtures in soybeans contain many different sterols of pharmaceutical value. Because of the different solubility of the stigmasterol and sitosterol, so in this project, the study about separation and purification of stigmasterol and sitosterol from phytosterol mixtures was done through solvent crystallization method. Furthermore, the project optimized the parameter in the process.The study first compared the effect of different solvents, and found that the 1-Propanol and 2-Methyl-1-propanol had the better effect. So the study used 1-Propanol and 2-Methyl-l-propanol as the isolation solvent to purify the stigmasterol.The study showed the best technical parameter listed below: in the process of concentration, the ratio of material and solvent was 1:5 , crystallization temperate was 25 ℃ , crystallization time was six hours;On the other hand, in the process of separation, the ratio of material and solvent was 1:5, crystallization temperate was 32 ℃ , crystallization time was six hours. And after six satges of crystallization, the content of stigmasterol was more than 95% under the experimental operating conditions.The innovation of this study was used two kind of process which was named as concentration and separation. As a result, The experimental results showed the stages of crystallization was less than the existent method, and the amount of stigmasterol was reached more than 35%, higher than the existent method.
