Pmac Ball End Mill Grinding Equipment Cnc System Management Software Development

The ball-nose end milling cutter is one kind of highly efficient cutting tool. It is used for machining complex surface on NC machine, especially in the fields of die manufacturing and motorcar manufacturing. Presently there are two sorts of machine used to manufacture the ball-nose end milling cutter in China. One is simple grinding device, which can't obtain the structural parameter desired, the other is five-axis and four-linkage machine tool, which is very expensive.In this paper, author design and develop a set of motion control management software, which is based on a new kind of method used to machine ball-nose end milling cutter and a new designed grinding equipment controlled by PMAC(Programmable Multiple Axis Controller).The motion control management software consists of two parts: one is the software run in upper computer, its functions is to provide simple and convenient MMI(Man-machine Interface) to complete some un-real time works; the other is the software run in PMAC, its function is to provide motion control program, which is compiled based on parameterization, In this program, the grinding mathematical models of the major cutting edge and the flank of the ball-nose milling cutter are compiled into the moving program to produce the three-dimensional moving points in real time to control the equipment complete the whole process of grinding the ball-nose milling cutter's the major cutting edge and the flank.In this software, the communication between the upper computer and PMAC is linked through the communication driver PComm32PRO provided by PMAC. The developing environment of the software is VC6.0+Windows2000.
