People pay great attention to heavy metal which is one of the most important environmental contaminations since 1950s, especially the marine environment along the coast. In order to protect oceanic environment and marine organisms, and provide some basic information for environmental protection and conservation biology, the concentrations of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd) and mercury (Hg) in skin, muscle, gill and liver in five fishes [Mugil so-iuy Liza haematocheila (LH), fat greenling Hexagrammos otakii (HO), Rockfish Sebastes schlegeli (SS), small yellow croaker Pseudosciaena polyactis (PP), flathead Platycephalus indicus (PI)] were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) and atomic fluorescence spectrophotometer (AFS).The results show that, (1) the concentration of necessary element Cu and Zn in five fish tissues is higher than that of non-necessary element Pb, Cd and Hg basically. The content of Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Hg is from high to low in turn. But the concentrations of heavy metal in gill of LH and that in skin and gill of SS and PI are, Zn>Pb>Cu>Cd>Hg; Zn>Cu>Cd>Pb>Hg in PP. Overall, the concentrations of heavy metal in liver is the highest, the concentrations of heavy metal in muscle is the lowest, but the concentrations of Zn and Pb are exceptions. The former is the highest in skin and the latter is the highest in gill. (2) by comparison among five fish, the concentration of Cu is, HO>LH>PP≈PI>SS; PP>PI>SS>LH>HO in Zn; PI>HO>SS≈LH> PP in Pb; HO>PP>SS>LH>PI in Cd; HO>PP>PI>LH>SS in Hg. (3) the heavy metal concentration is higher in autumn, especially the concentrations of Zn, Pb and Cd are obvious. Only a few metals in a few tissues are higher in winter or spring, such as Cu, Cd and Hg in LH liver, Cu, Zn and Hg in SS liver. (4) by comparison with the result of the data or by comparison with fishes in the other waters, it is found that most of the concentrations of heavy metals of fishes in Weihai is lower except the concentrations of Cu in skin and muscle of PI, gill of HO and PI, liver of SS, and Zn in gill of PP. It reveals that it may be polluted slightly by Cu and Zn in Weihai coastal waters. (5) the correlation of heavy metal concentrations of the five fishes in Weihai is analyzed, most of it is positive, basically consistent in Cu-Zn (four tissues in HO, liver in SS and skin and liver in PI), Cu-Cd ( muscle and gill of HO, gill of SS and liver of PI), Pb-Cd (liver...
