The super heavy oil resource is very abundant in Block Shu1 of Liaohe Oilfield with the crude viscosity under formation conditions over 10×104mpa.s, which is basically immobile and hard to develop. Since the end of 1990s, steam huff and puff for super heavy oil recovery in Block Shu1 of Liaohe Oilfield has been successful and has been commercialized. However, how to improve the recovery at the later stage during steam huff and puff is an important research topic. Steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) uses steam as the hear source and rely on the action of gravity of condensed liquid to recovery heavy oil, by which the recovery can reach up to 60-80%. The technique has been commercially applied overseas, especially in Canada. In this paper, the super heavy reservoirs in Block Du84 in Shu1 of Liaohe Oilfield is taken as the research target and large volumes of research documents on SAGD development are looked through to study comprehensively the feasibility, reservoir engineering design, drilling and production technologies and surface supporting techniques in SAGD pilot area based on geologic research of super heavy oil and development evaluation during steam huff and puff period in Block Shu1, having important realistic meanings and application value in guiding the super heavy oil SAGD development in Liaohe Oilfield.
