In view of the character that collecting welding pool image is difficult in double wire automatic gas shielded arc welding, the vision detecting system of collecting image at the behind of welding pool is designed in this paper. In allusion to welding pool of central carbon mixing quality steel austenitic stainless steel welding wire, the compound filter system which is composed of a 980nm central wave length narrowband filter , a 0. 1% and a 0. 5% neutral filters is adopted. Clear welding pool images like ellipse are gathered. After the analysis of image character, we found that the contour of welding pool is distinct at head , middle and rear . Welding pool account for 75% of the image and scum is not existent . In allusion to welding pool of aluminum alloy, the compound filter system which is composed by a 1064nm central wave length narrowband filter and a 0. 1% neutral filters is adopted. Clear welding pool images like taper are collectted. The welding pool of aluminum alloy is mostly covered with blazing arc. We also find the light caused by arc reflection at the rear. Although the proportion of eyeable part is small, the boundary is legible. The feature of central carbon mixing quality steel and aluminum alloy in double wire automatic gas shielded arc welding pool is analyzed from both geometrical form and gray-level distribution. A image processing software of double wire automatic gas shielded arc welding is also designed. The software are operated simply and quickly. The processed welding pool images disposed by the software are not only slick and consecutive but also tranquil.
