Refractory organic can be accumulated in the environment easily , most of them is harmful to the human being and other beings. Among the total ,most of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and heterocyclic compound have the carcinogenic action and teratogenesis to the organism. This paper studied the effect of co-metabolism on the biodegradability of the PAHs and heterocyclic compounds. The compounds including naphthalene, anthracene, diphenyl, terphenyl, pyrro, furan, imidazole, pyridine, quinoline, indole, carbaz ole, phenothiazine. The experimental results are as follow:(1) Under the sole-substrate condition ,furan and naphthalene can be degraded ,pyrro, imidazole, pyridine, anthracene, quinoline, indole can be degraded difficulty, diphenyl, terphenyl, carbazole, phenothiazine inhibit microorganism. The aerobic biodegradability of the compounds such as pyrro, imidazole, quinoline, indole, anthracene are improved when phenol as the primary substrate and the tested compounds as the secondary substrate. In these condition , diphenyl, terphenyl,, pyridine, carbazole, phenothiazine cann't be bio-degraded.(2) Cometabolism is existed under anaerobic condition , the aerobic degradation of the tested pollutants are improved to varying degrees after anaerobic acidification.(3) In the co-metabolism ,the effect of varying primary substrate on the bio-degradability of the refractory organic is different.(4) In the co-metabolism, the bio-oxidation ratio of tested organics can be affected by concentration of the primary substrates. The effect of influence followthe formula:...
