At present mankind already enters the ages from synthesize to the compound material. Many scientists think that the future metal compound material will depend on the research and the application of discontinuously strengthening materials including whiskers, powders and platelike strengthening material to a large extent. Whisker had been accepted by public acting as one of the three greatest materials compensation to strengthen the materials. So the synthesize and application study of whisker will be important in the material science. Many metal and ceramic compound materials strengthened by inorganic whisker materials have already applied to the fields, such as machine, electronics, chemical engineering, national defense, energy and environmental protection, etc. Considering continued demands for high temperature ceramic composite, mullite whiskers, as a candidate for reinforcement, entail great potential due to good refractoriness, high creep resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion and chemical stability in its own right.The methods of controlling synthesis, the growth mechanism and the possibility for industrial production of mullite whiskers have been researched entirely in this paper.
