Supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) process is a technology that degrades organic compounds. Organic materials can be "burned" to water, carbon dioxide and other ultimate innocuous compounds with oxidants in supercritical water (temperature and pressure of water above its critical point of 373.21℃ and 22.05Mpa). This technology has many advantages. Firstly, organic compounds, air,and carbon dioxide are completely miscible with supercritical water. Secondly, Inorganic salts exhibit sharply reduced solubility, and almost precipitate completely at reaction conditions. Thirdly, it is highly effective and no secondary pollution. These special physical and chemical phenomena make it a highly effective technology.This paper introduces a new system about energy transformation on the base of the SCWO process. The design steps of the system include theoretical analysis, the design of project and calculation. During the design, coal is chosen as the typical organism, and coal-water slurry with 18.5%(wt) coal is selected as the organic reactant. By mass balance and heat energy balance calculation, a relatively complete supercritical water oxidation process is designed.The process has following characteristics. A reactor is designed with inlaid stainless steel tube and heat exchanger that relieve the corrosion of material and reduce the demand of the material. It uses two coil heat exchangers to cool the products. The SCWO reactor, heat exchanger, coolers and pipes adopt Stainless steel tubes.The SCWO reactor consists of three units: reaction, heat exchanger and precipitation. The reactor is made up of inlaid tube, interlayer and crust. A tubular heat exchanger is fixed at the top of the reactor. The cooling water and the supplemental water can control the startup and the halt of the reactor. The particular design of surge tank can balance the pressure of reactor to make inlaid tube and interlayer avoid pressure.
