Diamond saw is a tool which is widely used in cutting hard brittle materials, such as stone, concrete, glass, crystal and so on. Diamond saws on sale now are mostly copper matrix and iron matrix saws, most of which have demerits such as short life and terrible incising noise. As a result, how to improve diamond saws' wear resistance and abate incising noise have became hotspots in world's diamond saw research.At first, we added minute quantity rich Ce rare earth element lanthanum, Cr and carbonized silicon into normal diamond saws. Sclerometer and electronic tester were used to test diamond saws' rigidity and bending strength, incise tests were made to test diamond saws' wear resistance, scanning electron microscope(SEM) was used to observe microscopic structures of diamond saws. The results of tests indicated that minute quantity rich Ce rare earth element lanthanum can reduce holes in saws, improve capability of saws and cleanse surfaces of diamonds, improve binding power between diamonds and saws; Cr and carbonized silicon are efficient in improving diamonds saws' rigidity and bending strength. Then the optimization design was done, the final scheme which add 1% rich Ce rare earth element lanthanum, Cr and carbonized silicon into normal diamond saw can improve bending strength and wear resistance by 10%.Three schemes including adding laser kerfs on saws, adding damp materials on saws and adding damp materials into kerfs were designed to reduce incising noise. Incising tests were done to observe noise reduction effects of different shapes and breadths of kerfs, different thickness of damp materials. The final scheme which contains undee kerfs of 0.5mm breadth and damp materials of 1mm thickness can reduce incising noise by 10dB.
