With the development of science and technology and the improvement of people's life, the phase-change energy storage materials has a broad application wider and wider. A higher requirement for phase-change energy storage materials has been put forward to, which is good heat storage property, low cost, and high heat efficiency. Organic materials have become the hot researching subject because of the characteristic of no super-cooling and no chromatography.The research object in this paper is paraffin wax which has become very popular with its advantages of high latent phase-change heat, no super-cooling, no chromatography, stable property, nontoxic, and low price, and so on as a kind of phase-change heat storage material.According to the characteristics of phase-change heat transfer, heat transfer models for paraffin wax have been established in this paper, and the paraffin wax's heat transfer characteristics in the process of melting and solidification have been validated by a number of experiments. In the melting experiments, we have significantly analyzed the influence of heating power, Bi number, Ste number and other parameters on paraffin wax's melting process, temperature changing tendency on different temperature measuring spots, and the movement of the solid-liquid interface; in the solidification process, we have significantly analyzed the influence of chilling water temperature, flow, and Renault number on the solidification process.As a kind of phase change heat storage material, the deficiency of paraffin wax is the low heat conductivity. In order to enhance the feasibility of paraffin wax in thermal storage domain, people usually take the methods of adding additives into paraffin wax, fixing fins in thermal storage equipment, and installing net shape materials in container, and so on. This paper has added metal thread into paraffin wax to enhance paraffin wax's heat conductivity, constructed heat transfer models for compound phase-change material of paraffin wax and metal thread according to phase-change heat transfer models, and analyzed the influence of metal thread on the paraffin wax's heat transfer property through a large number of experiments.
