The ball mill is a kind of conventional equipment used in concentrators, it's running result impacts on the production quality and the ability. Controlling well grinding process will play an important role and it is very significant to decrease the power consumption, reduce the operation cost, improve the quality of products and the concentrator's economic returns. The ball mill is a typical Multi-variables, strong coupling system, which involves many process variables that affect each other. The ball mill will have a good grinding effect only timely testing the variables and limiting them to a reasonable range.The experts and scholars at home and abroad have much research work to test the mill load, but all these test methods haven't achieved good results because of the mill's complications and the methods' limitations.The grinding process is the first and critical link, is the most important concentrator work. It's result affect the quality of products, the rate of recovery and the ability of production, and it is the primary link that can improve the economic returns.The power and steel ball consumption are primary production cost. 60% of the power consumption is produced in grinding process, so we could say whether we can improve the automation level and keep the safe and economic operation of the ball mill not only have to do with operation result of the concentrator, but also concern effectively utilizing mine resource and national economic development.Mine resource is a kind of unregenerated resource. Human society development is depending increasely on the mine resource. Only way is reasonable utilizing mine resource, handling the immediate interests and the long-term interests. At this sense, it can bring remarkable social and economical benefit for us to keep the ball mill economic operating. This is why the concentrator workers can hard work at it for a long term.Taking an overall view of the achievements and their disadvantages that the scholars at home and abroad have achieved, we advanced a new test method —dynamic weight test, that is testing the ball mill's dynamic weight at different filling level by use of the pressure sensors. Much practice and experiments show that there is a very closely connection between the filling level and the dynamic weight of the ball mill.In order to testify whether there is this kind of connection between them, we designed a data collection system of the ball mill, which we test the dynamic weight of the ball mill by means of the pressure sensors. By making a series of conditional experiments and analysing the result of these , we will find out the connection that the filling level impacts on the dynamic weight of the ball mill.The method has strong anti-interference ability, is easily put into effect and is suitable for the adverse production circumstances. By means of these research experiments, we have found out the connection between the filling level and dynamic weight of the ball mill, which can provide theoretical evidences for founding mathematical model and carrying out the auto control of the ball mill. In practice, according to the result of test, we can judge the filling level of the steel ball and pulp in the ball mill, which can help us eliminate the overloaded and under loaded phenomina, ensure qualified concentrate product, ease workers labour, debase waste and improve the concentrator's economic returns. Therefore, it has very important theoretical values and pratical significances.
