There are more and more organic pollutants in the waste water. The environmental pollution is getting worse with the fast development of industry. It's very important to control the pollution of the organic compound and improve water enviromental quality. In these years, photocatalytic redox reactions that use semiconductor as the photocatalyst become the most noticeable waste water treatment method. This method has gained wide interest because of its simplicities, high oxidation capability, degradation organic pollutants without selectivity, without the second pollution and the potential of utility of solar energy. The light source often used in photocatalytic redox reactions is UV light. Ti02 , as a kind of photocatalyst, can be used to degrade organic contamination with dramatic effects. However, there is also some shotcomings. Got-up UV light is expensive, unstable and consumes a lot of electricity. The most important thing is UV light occupies less than 5% in solar light, while visible light occupies 43%. So researchers apply themselves to exploit new types of photocatalyst interested in the solar or visible light in recent years. In this article, the aim we pray is to synthesize small-scale Cu2O with uniform morphologies by simple method, and then discuss the activities of photocatalysis of Cu2O by degradation of the methylene blue and methyl orange. In the first chapter, the theory of how the photocatalyst works and the research actuality is stated. What's the methods of fabrication the visible light photocatalyst is introduced there. We optimize the experimental conditions for the best samples in the second chapter, and then characterize the synthesized samples by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) et al. In the third and fourth chapters, a research work on the photocatolytic activation property using synthesized Cu2O is performed. The experiment research shows that the Cu2O catalyzed by visible light make the methylene blue and methyl orange to degrade more than 90%, and the Cu2O can be used for several times. In the fifth chapter, the theory of photocatalytic degradation and kinetic study of methyl orange is carried out. Result of kinetic study show that the degradation reaction can be expressed by the first-order reaction kinetic model.
