In recent years, the proportion that machining of complex surfaces, especially non-conventional curved surfaces, takes in the manufacturing industry turns larger and larger. The generation of non-conventional curved surface has become the key to reduce the developing cycle of a new product. This paper takes an in-depth research on technology of the non-conventional curved surfaces. Main contents are summarized as the following:(1) We researched the system of generation of non-conventional curved surfaces and its pivotal technology. The advanced directive ideology of whole system is process capability, and its conception, form and characteristic are put forward.(2) With the cylindrical cam mechanism as the example, we take an in-depth research on the principle of the digitalized generation for the model non-conventional curved surface part. Then, based on the Pro/Engineer software, digitized design and automation machining of cylindrical cam has been done.(3) The NC code of post-processing is very important in the technology of digitized closed loop generation. We take DMU70V five-axis NC machine for example , after analyzing its structure and coordinate movement, and the post-processor of DMU70V are developed based on Pro/E software.(4) We do the machining simulation for NC of post-processing based on VERICUT software. The real cutting experiment of cylindrical cam on DMU70V show that the developed postprocessor is correct and effective.(5) The profile of cylindrical cam is detected and measured based on 3-D probe of DMU70V. We analyse the data, and we set up the new model from the data. We correct the NC code compared the new model with the former. The measured feedback and closed loop regeneration technology of cylindrical cam is developed, and it enhanced machining precision and product quality of mechanical part.Cylindrical cam machined by digitized closed loop generation is successful in practical test, which reduces the heavy workload, improves the cylindrical cam's manufacturing and working precision. It gives us many important instructions for the research on generation technology of non-conventional curved surfaces.
