The nano S-doped titanium dioxide powders were synthesized by sol-gel method using thiourea as the doping agent. The influence of heat treatment by different temperature and dopant on the photocatalytic activity were studied. The results of X-ray diffractometer (XRD),diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) etc revealed that the best calcinations temperature is 500℃, and the best dopant is 18%. The average particle diameter of resultant S-TiO2 was about 10nm and its crystal form was anatase. The results showed that doped S has developed absorption scope to the visible range, thereby increasing the photocatalytivity in the visible-light region, in addition when the S dopant content was 18.0% and the calcinations temperature was 500℃, the visible-light responding bound was about 550nm, the removement of L-acid was about 66.6% under visible light. The formation of S atoms in S-TiO2 particles was determined to be mainly S6+ and S4+ in catalyst surface and S2- in the TiO2 lattice inner from X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). Thereby,we conclude that the catalyst is co-doped by S6+ S4+ and S2- ,which is a very creative conclusion.Photocatalytic degration of 1 -Naphthol-8-sulfonic acid andβ-Naphthol in water was studied using S-TiO2 as photo-catalyst. This paper studied the influence of pH,solution initial concentration, light source on the treatment effects, and the primary decompose process.
