Traditional wood coatings have many good multipurpose properties. However, there are many kinds of solvents such as xylene, acetate and ketonein the coating; all these volatile substances are inimical to people's healthand pollute environment. In this article some prepolymer and accessory ingredient were used toprepare the wood coating. Meanwhile the reaction conditions, such asprepolymerizing temperature, reaction time ad stirring rate as well as NCO/OHration, neutralization extend were discussed. The results were shown that theprepolymerizing temperature is 80℃, reaction time is 5 hours and. NCO/OH ratiois (2.0-2.2). Furthermore the structure of polyurethane and acrylic resinemulsion was by FT-IR,the thermal behavior of them wasdetermined by DSC. Finally the waterborne polyurethane resin with gooddispersion was prepared, which have the excellent properties including highhardness and better water resistance.Besides, with the start-point of the formula design, this articlediscussed how to design wood paint system, and focused on influence ofco-solvent, wetting-leveling agent, defoaming agent, slipping agent, flatting agent, thickening agent on coatings performance and applicationproperties. By carefully choosing additives and using them reasonably, andoptimizing the coatings performance and application properties, an aliphatiewater-borne polyurethane wood coating satisfied with the demands of indoorwood decoration is made.
