In these thesis, the SWNTs have been surface modified by grafted withPEG and then filled into PU and Cyanate ester. Adopting three differentmethods to purify the SWNTs, We find out the content of carboxyl groupshas increase remarkably in the mixed acid under a mild reactiontemperature, not only this, the mild temperature can ensure theintegrality of SWNTs. Then the purified SWNTs have been grafted by PEGwith different molecular through TDI as a bridge. The the sequence of graftratio is PEG(400)>PEG(200)>PEG(800)>PEG(1000)>PEG(1200). Studies ofpolyurethane elastomer (PU) composites either prepared by filled bypristine SWNTs or filled by modified nano-particles via TDI activationmethod showed that the tensile strength and elongation at break wereimproved, and it also indicated that the latter method was much better.By comparison of the properties of PU composites, the best filler contentof SWNTs was obtained. At last, Studies of the Cyanate ester fibre filledby SWNTs have been carried on. The SWNTs have not affect Polymerizationdegree and the thermodynamic properties, but affect the machanicalproperty a lot.
