The thesis is aimed at finding new low cost oxidation-resistance materials for the steel needles and locks, which are used to firm the insulator lay inside the firing oven that generates high temperature gas for cigarette production. The needles and locks are now made of high cost 316L austenite stainless steel. On the basis of reviewing of literatures, the author selected to study the effect of aluminizing treatment to several common steels on their oxidation-resistance, and try them in the actual environment to see their efficiency.First, the paper researched the aluminizing processes, i.e., hot-dip aluminizing and solid aluminizing, on 45 carbon steel and lCrl3Si3 ferrite stainless steel, also researched their microstructure and oxidation-resistance at 800℃in laboratory. The results show that two processes are valid to obtain the aluminizing layer on both steels, but the surface quality of the layer by hot-dip method is rather rough, and the thickness is not uniform, and the solid method is much better on quality and easy to control; the oxidation-resistance after aluminizing is much better than before, solid method is better than hot-dip method for the same substrate materials; the oxidation-resistance after solid aluminizing for different materials rank from high to low as follow: aluminized ferrite stainless steel, 316L steel, aluminized 45 steel, ferrite stainless steel and 45 steel; the former three are belong to oxidation-resistant materials according to national standard. On the basis of laboratory tests, the paper selected solid aluminizing method to treat samples of 45 carbon steel, lCrl3Si3 ferrite stainless steel, 316L austenite steel, test locally in the firing oven of the factory for a long time. The results show that the oxidation-resistance of different materials rank from high to low as follow: aluminized 316L steel, 316L steel, aluminized 45 steel, aluminized ferrite stainless steel and ferrite stainless steel; the oxidation-resistant of aluminized 45 steel, aluminized ferrite stainless steel is close to that of 316L steel, so can be used as replacing materials of the latter. The results are similar to those of the lab tests. Economy analysis shows that the cost of steel needles and locks can be greatly decreased if aluminized 45 steel is used to take the place of 316L steel.
