Leiss William from Canada is a famous scholar in the ecology Marxism field. His theory of the ecological crisis includes a series of unique theoretical viewpoints, not only making some insightful analysis on the reality of the ecological environment, but also making a profound critical analysis on some Western ecology theories. Today, the ecological crisis has been global and worsened day by day,and has caused the survival of human being to suffer from unprecedented challenge. Thus,the systematical discussion of his theory had a great significance ,especially to the construction of socialism modernization in China at present. Therefore, it is necessary to sort out with the excavation the core idea and the basic theory carefully, reveal the value and get rid of its shortage .The thesis has analyzed systematically Leiss'theory ,reveal its concrete contents in order to provide a deep theoretical resources for the Chinese characteristic socialism modernization.This thesis consists of four parts. Firstly ,the paper has combed the necessary foundation of Leiss'ecology-crisis theory including the Western green movement and theory ,the theory on nature of Marxism, the Western ecological theory and the traditional concept of " donation of nature" in the West ,all of which provide direct resources for Leiss'theory. Secondly, Leiss has analyzed the contents of his ecological crisis theory : the root of ecological crisis of capitalism is the ideology of"donation of nature, the essence is the political systemic crisis of capitalism, crisis of human survival and development and the solution is to "return to ideology", to liberate nature, establish the natural ecological civilization concept, and to learn to respect nature and live in harmony with the environment, harmonious coexistence. Thirdly ,from the positive and the negative elements,it has revealed the ideological essence of his theory. In the Last chapter,it has discussed the reality enlightenment for us .
