As an advanced method of fabrication, the laser cutting process has been widely used and become one of mature technology in laser manufacturing, for such merits as extensive cutting range, high cutting speed, small heat affected zone, high degree of accuracy, flexibility and so on. Recently, with the development of modern industries, the requirements for industrial product are aiming to small batch, high accuracy, high efficiency, small size and light gage. Laser cutting exert adequacy technology advantage.In order to solve the slag problem in laser cutting certain special steel and improve laser cutting efficiency, cutting quality and reduce the cost and develop more application field. In order to make a good use of laser cutting technology in our society, we still do more research at incomplete part of laser cutting technology.At first, the paper introduces the basic principles of laser cutting technology, characteristic and current development at home and abroad. And then, it Analyses the cause of slag, discusses the background and significance of the issue. It also introduces the new method and equipment.Secondly, it is easy to produce molten slag by using traditional laser cutting technology in laser cutting some special steel such as stainless steel and so on. The good results can be achieved by Adopting higher pressure and purity Nitrogen or inert gas as assisted gas. But it need higher purity Nitrogen at higher pressure environment, the consumption of gas is maximum. Further, absence great deal of heat energy which is supplier by the oxidation reaction induces the power of laser cutting increasing quickly. This method causes a lot of problem for the laser cutting technology to further expand other application field.And then, the particularity of special steel brings a great inconvenience in the laser cutting. Conventional process is unable to solve the molten slag issue. After study of the forming principle and the rule of molten slag, a fire new laser cutting technology by using cyclone slag separator that will form rotating gas flow to control the direction of the flowing slag gas and oxygen as aided gas is raised first time. The experiments prove that by controlling the technical parameter reasonably, this laser cutting technology is practical and feasible. The flow process of gas is simulated by Finite Element Method, directly display the air flow and the turbulent flow change. In order to optimization design, it compares the different conditions which affect the air flow. Theoretically, the calculation of Reynold's Number and comparison, adding the cyclone cleaner can hold the air which locates at cutting insection in laminar flow, avoiding emergence of bursting phenomenon.In the end, sum-up and prospect of the research in the task are stated. And precede the outlook in the future development to the laser cutting technique. The research technique and research result used in this paper will offer theory and experiment reference for the practice application.
