China which is called "the Costume Kingdom" has the glorious history of costume culture. Over the past several centuries, the Chinese people had created many costume style of Chinese National characteristic, and have also increased glory for Chinese culture. Especially in Tang Dynasty, which not only preserved and developed the traditional costume based on inheriting the Sui Dynasty, but also designed a great deal of unexampled novel costume by absorbing diffusely the foreign culture and inosculated it to native costume.The costume in Tang is a successful example of using foreign culture. On the basis of the traditional kernel, Tang developed by selecting and absorbing, and then created countless fancy costume, and some of them influenced importantly foreign dressing , which give us a good example of inherit, inference and creation in our fashion design fields.In this paper, the relations between foreign culture and Tang costume were discussed by using comparisons and referring to archaeological materials. Particularly, it was not only analyzed that how the foreign culture affected the costume's style, features, fabrics and print expression in Tang Dynasty, but also analyzed the Tang culture affected the development of dressing in some Asian country . From all analyses, some inspirations will be obtained for modern design.
