In this study, Glass-aluminum laminates(GLARE) were prepared and the key factors of the preparation process, including content of primer on the aluminum sheets, fiber volume fraction of the prepreg, drying process and pressing process, were optimized. The static mechanical properties, environmental resistance, fatigue crack propagation rate and fatigue fracture morphology of GLARE were investigated. This paper provided experimental guide for manufacturing and application of GLARE.The experimental results showed that on the premise of better combination at the interface, the less content of primer on the aluminum sheets and the higher fiber volume fraction of the prepreg, the higher tensile properties of GLARE. For the different laying up orientation of fibers of different laminates, MVF equation was used to calculate the tensile property of GLARE. The calculation results were in good agreement with the test ones. The compression and flexure of GLARE are affected by both aluminum and glass fiber. The special laminate structure of GLARE offered it excellent environment resistance.Owing to the bridging of fibers, GLARE had excellent fatigue properties. With the growth of crack length, the fatigue crack growth rate increased tardily. Accompanying the fatigue crack growth, delamination occured and growed in GLARE. The delamination area of GLARE was dual ellipse. Crack propagation and delamination propagation were the two fracture mode during the fatigue cycles of GLARE. They were both related to the fiber bridging stress and interacted, which caused the stable propagation of cracks in GLARE.
