Nanometer materials known as the 21st century new materials were obtained extensive attention and further development,after its concept was put forward in the middle of 20th century by the scientific community.Since the middle of 1980s,with the rapid development of microelectronics devices,the general trend of materials science has been fine,light,thin,short and small, micro-multifunctional.While properties of nano-materials involving the specific chemical,mechanical,electronic,magnetic and optical aspects are to meet this trend,which attract attention of experts and scholars from numerous disciplinary fields and simultaneously inspire us reorientate the idea of the research work to the study of ultra-fine particles.The traditional sulfuric acid method and chlorination process are difficult to produce nano-sized titanium dioxide.Domestic nano-titanium dioxide on the preparation is still at the laboratory stage,mostly using higher prices of titanium alkoxides,or of a "smoke" of titanium tetrachloride as raw materials,which result in increase of production costs and decrease of production efficiency.In addition,it doesn't take good use of our abundant titanium resources and current foundation of industrial production.This paper is mainly to study and optimize the method suitable for the preparation of ultrafine TiO2 in the industrial production,and research the application of ultra-fine TiO2.It is divided into the following four parts.The first part introduces the nature and use of ultra-fine TiO2,and summarizes the domestic and overseas research condition,finally discusses the purpose and significance.In the second part,by exploring a lot of experimental conditions,the successful use of hydrolysis of titanic sulfate prepared nano-titanium dioxide particles with narrow particle-size distribution.Results show that anatase type TiO2 with the particle size between 2-60nm was produced,whose quality is in line with corporate standards,on the condition that the ion concentration is 110g/l when titanium liquid hydrolyze,the time of stopping temperature and stirring is about 20 minutes,the final heat treatment temperature is 500℃,and constant temperature is 2 hours.The third part introduces the preparation or rutile type ultra—fine TiO2.In order to make conversion of crystal at a relatively low temperature,we summarized that oxalic acid and sulfuric acid respectively as organic and inorganic crystal accelerator were added after orthogonal experiment,whose quantities account for 6%and 1%of TiO2.,when the conversion temperature was kept for 3 hours at 650℃,and obtained rutile type ultrafine TiO2 with the particle size of 30-60nm eventually.The fourth part is mainly on the application of ultra-fine TiO2 on one hand nano TiO2 particles possess large specific surface area,so that surface atomic number,surface energy and surface tension increase with the dramatic decrease in size;on the other hand because of its small size,properties such as the small size effect,the surface effects,quantum size effect and macroscopic quantum tunneling effect were performed.And the properties result in the differences between the nano-titanium dioxide particles and the conventional particles in terms of heat,light and sensitive character and stability of the surface area,ect,which makes it in the environment,information,materials,energy, medical and health field has broad application prospects.Here this paper introduces the application of nano TiO2 in the paint and photocatalysis,and proves its special use by comparison with the ordinary TiO2.
