Our country is abound in iron mine resources, but the run of mine average grade is only 33.00 percent, majority of iron mine belong to the hematite type which have lower grade, high impurity and fine-disseminated, this part of mine are impacted by such facts as geographical environment, mine cause, the level of mineral processing equipment, the technological processing which selected is generally more complex, the separation indicators is lower. It is particularly important that explore mineral processing of technology, bring forward the recovery of useful minerals' separation method, technological processing and technological parameters, to exploit hematite resources, using the existing technical equipment. The iron mine of Yunnan are retained 3.6594 million tons, the grade of Fe is 35.50 percent. According to enterprise's request, the powdered ore is the mainly concentrate products, and the concentrate with 55 percent iron content, iron recovery get to 80 percent. The beneficiation experimental research of the coarse(6mm-0.15mm)made by Changsha Research Institute of mineral and Metallurgical, can get the concentrate with 55 percent iron content, iron recovery above 60 percent, through one-stage roughing, one-stage sweeping and one-stage cleaning, applying the Wet high-intensity permanent magnetic separator, concentrate products meet the requirements. But the middling of coarse which merged by the tailings of cleaning and the concentrate of sweeping is difficult to achieve the requirements of qualified products, the indicators is not ideal, the trend is not clear. So the enterprise decided to carry out comprehensive utilization of the middling of coarse and the part of fine by Kunming University of Science and Technology.Through tests verified, the fundamental reason for the middling of course's indicators is not ideal is that the the useful minerals are not dissociative enough.Regrinding and separating the middling of coarse,it is found that the separated properties are close to the fine. So, two parts can be separated by merging. Employing the new beneficiation technology with the coarse and fine separation, the middling of coarse re-grinded and the fine are merged to separate. After a series of test conditions, the part of fine(-0.15mm-0)can obtain the concentrate with 57 percent iron content, iron recovery 85 percent, through one-stage roughing and one-stage sweeping. After cleaning by shaking table,it can attain to the concentrate with 60 percent iron content, iron recovery get to 78 percent. The middling of coarse is separately grinded and separated by one-stage roughing and one-stage sweeping, it can get the coarse concentrate with 55 percent iron content, iron recovery close to 90 percent. After cleaning by shaking table, obtaining the concentrate with 60 percent iron content, iron recovery can get to 80 percent. This technology is the new beneficiation technology, new technique; in order to product the qualified powdered mine. Sorting by size, it can decrease the energy consumption of crushing and grinding.Employing the permanent equipment with small power consumption, it decreased the energy consumption. The technology of magnetic separation and gravity separation is shorter process, less investment, good economic returns and short construction periods, so it is greatly reduce the beneficiation cost. The Iron mine Concentrator has been put into production since March 2007, the grade of iron concentrate is more than 55 percent, the recovery is more than 80 percent, and the indicators are stable. Therefore, employing the new beneficiation technology with the coarse and fine separation, the middling of coarse re-grinded and the fine are merged to separate is reasonable at locale.
