In our country, titanium is one of the key high-quality metal materials which can promote economic development and accelerate national defence modernization Construction .In the production of titanium, primary link is Preparating sponge titanium ,then Utilize sponge titanium to product titanium .Titanium tetrachloride is main material for the production of sponge titanium, so analysis of titanium tetrachloride is very important for titanium tetrachloride's production control and Raising the quality of sponge titanium. It is must carry on strict quality inspection to titanium tetrachloride. So far, the titanium factory of our country only analyzes the inorganic impurity in titanium tetrachloride, but the organic impurity has not been determined. This thesis researches the organic impurity in titanium tetrachloride in order to offer reference for titanium tetrachloride's industry monitor.Comparing with application of infrared spectroscopy,UV spectroscopy and gas chromatography on titanium tetrachloride's analysis, I adopt infrared spectroscopy to analyze organic impurity in titanium tetrachloride. Analyzing the titanium tetrachloride's infrared spectrogram of 5cm optical distance ,and combining with titanium tetrachloride's mass spectrogram, find hydrochloric acid,carbon dioxide,COS,TiOCl2,tetrachloride methane and trichloroacetyl chloride in titanium tetrachloride. Use the standard addition extrapolation method and 5cm path lengths glass liquid cell to determine the trichloroacetyl chloride. The results show that the liner ranges of calibration curve were 0~0.198g/L(r=0.9994), absorbance index is 2.660 L/g·cm, determination limit is 3.72×10-4g/L. Discuss the feasibility of using IR transmission on semi-quantitative to analyze impurity in titanium tetrachloride. In titanium tetrachloride's industry monitor, When the accuracy of analysis result is non-high ,titanium tetrachloride can be semi-quantitative analysis by contrast IR transmission of the standard sample and the sample which need be tested.
