Recently, iridium(Ⅲ) complexes have received considerable attention due to their high emission efficiencies and easy tuning of emission colors by changing chemical structures of ligands. The mercuric ion(Hg2+) is considered as a highly dangerous pollutant related to serious irreversible neurological damage In this thesis, Hg2+-selective phosphorescence chemosensors based on iridium(Ⅲ) complexes were synthesized and the application in bioimaging for some phosphorescence chemosensors was investigated.1.A Hg2+-selective phosphorescence chemosensor based on iridium(Ⅲ) complex Ir(ppy)2(TTA) and its application in bioimaging.A new iridium(Ⅲ) complex Ir(ppy)2(TTA) was designed and synthesized for Hg2+-selective phosphorescent chemosensor.Ir(ppy)2(TTA) showed a weak phosphorescent emission, which may be attributed to the possibility of inter-ligand energy transfer(ILET) from the metal-igand charge transfer(3MLCT) state to the lower triplet energy level of the ancillary ligand TTA.Upon addition of Hg2+,it showed a significant phosphorescence emission enhancement.Furthermore, Ir(ppy)2(TTA) has been successfully used to monitor intracellular Hg2+ in HeLa Cells.2.Selective-Hg2+ optical-electrochemical sensor based on phosphorescent complexes.Because Hg2+ can easily combine with sulfur, two phosphorescent heavy-metal complexes Ir(bt)2(acac) and Pt(bt)(acac) were designed and synthesized as Hg2+ chemosensors.Multisignaling changes were observed through UV-vis absorption, phosphorescent emission and electrochemical measurements.Upon addition of Hg2+, the obvious spectral changes in absorption and phosphorescent emission bands were measured for Ir(bt)2(acac) and Pt(bt)(acac),which could be observed by the naked eyes. And the reversibility of Ir(bt)2(acac)-Hg2+ and Pt(bt)(acac)-Hg2+ were investigated and showed good results.
