Hydrogen energy sources are considered as a high energy density, abundant resources and nearly zero pollution which attracts more and more people, and the the key problem of hydrogen storage becomes more important to be resolved in the hydrogen explored and used in the world. The hydrogen storage alloy AB5, typically for the alloy LaNi5, is kind of material with high storage capacity and excellent dynamic characteristics in hydrogen absorbing and releasing. This alloy is easy to be activated, balance pressure is moderate and flat, and the difference of balance pressure between the hydrogen absorbing and releasing is little. The hydrogen storage alloy AB5, which belongs to thulium, is the most widely used hydrogen storage material in word, and it has become a remarkable material in the hydrogen storage research for its application.The research backgruand and developing of hydrogen storage alloy in word was illustrated in this thsis. The hydrogen storage theoretical foundation and alloy structure for AB5, and the principle and transfer process of hydrogen storage was also discussed. According to the design and research for the MmNi3.6Mn0.4 Al0.25Co0.75 hydrogen storage alloy's test system, an AB5 type hydrogen storage alloys test system was fabricated, which includes four parts, ie., the temperature control part, gas leading part, accurate pressure meter and vaccum pump. The temperature control part adopts oven drying and the temperature is controlled by accurate temperature sensor. The experiment results of constant temperature which can be controlled in 0.1oC. The gas leading part mainly was composed of pressure meter, airtight bearing-pressure plastic tube, the alloy storage vessel. The reactor design was a cylindric structure which has bigger area for the heat emiting, and it can control the temperature varity in less range. The join place where tube connected was used by sphere valve and airtight result well. The measure rang of the pressure meter is 0-1 Mpa, the accurate degree is 0.25%, it suit for the requirement of the design. After the alloy activation, the equal capacity-pressure difference method was used to test alloy capacity. The P-C-T characteristic curve was draw by the alloy hydrogen absorbing and releasing testing result. Experimental results indicate that effect of alloys AB5 sample's storage hydrogen is good, the alloys AB5 sample's balance pressure ranged in 0.35-0.45 Mpa at 20oC, the maximum mass ratio which storage hydrogen to the empty alloy could reach 0.69%, while temperture at 40oC, the balance pressure ranged in 0.45-0.5 Mpa, the ratio could reach 0.61%.
