Magnesium alloys, of many excellent properties, as the "21st Century Green Engineering Materials", have broad prospects to be applied in the automotive, communications, aerospace, military industry and other fields. With the corrosion-resistant and creep resistance of magnesium alloys being improved, some special application requirements of the structure components have begun to use magnesium alloy to replace the traditional metal structural materials, while for Low-rigidity structure components , deformation is large when processed , so it needs to seek effective methods of processing technology. Relying on the national scientific research project and combining with high speed machining technology, this dissertation studies the milling technology on some rare-earth magnesium alloy and its Low-rigidity structure workpiece, providing technical supports for the application of the material in related fields.Firstly, paper systematically expounds the characteristics and major issues of machining magnesium alloys, and summarizes the selection principle about tools, Cutting parameters and cutting fluid. Then,carrying out milling experiments on the Eigenstructure of the new magnesium alloys (Mg-6Nd-4Gd-3Y), analyses cutting temperature, processing quality, deformation and the shape of magnesium alloy chips, gets the machining properties of this RE-Mg alloy. Later, through the high speed milling experiments on Mg-6Nd-4Gd-3Y alloys, studies the effect of Cutting parameters on cutting force, gets the significant effects on cutting force, and founds the experience formula. Finally, according to the control measures of deformation processing about the Low-rigidity structure components, and the relevant conclusions of the study above, and combined with CAD/CAM / CAE technology, studys the processing technology on the typical magnesium alloy structure workpiece, and makes a Verification experiment. The experimental results show that the process used is just reasonable and feasible.
