Computer-aided process dimensions and tolerances of the solver as an indispensable linkthe of CAD / CAM / CAF / CAPP have a direct impact on quality and cost of parts. This paper analyzes the development-history of international computer-aided process dimension and tolerance design technology and the research status, and proposes a method based on plane size-type theory for sloving several key techniques about computer-aided design process dimensions and tolerances. This method is main to deal with the question of establishing plane size-type ,storage of relevant data, generating plane size-type equation automatically,and solving of functional equations automatically. With using ActiveX technology,VisualBasic and Microsoft Access, we can completed software design of computer-aided process dimension and tolerance.Compared with the differents of technology dimension chain, size tracking method and graph theory,This paper presents the methods of designing software system and gives a comprehensive analysis about using of the software with an application of size-type theory. This software can make relevant data of procedure sizes input into computer with Man-machine interactive environment,and then generate equations automatically in accordance with the principle of N equation N unknown. The computer-aided process dimension and tolerance design software has sloved the complex problems of drawing dimensional chain, analysis of thickening rings and reduce rings,calculation of the transfer coefficient in planar area.
