The Principles and Applications of OPC Abstract OPC(OLE for Process Control) specifications are a brand-new set of industrial automatic control software components.Based upon Microsoft's COM/DCOM technologies,OPC Utilizes the client/server structure and provides standard interfaces for the information exchange between the industrial automatic control systems and the Human-Machine Interface software for industrial control.Pr esently,OPC specifications are the defac to industrial standards.OPC have the following advantages:1)The hardware manufacturers merely need to write a set of drivers to meet the need of various customers.2)The application programmers only need to develop an interface to connect the different devices.3)End user can choose the most suitable devices to enrich their choices.4)The automatic process control in the plants can be integrated with the enterprises'office automation more conveniently.For the above reasons,the study of OPC,in the background of the booming Implementation of informationized enterprise in China,has great practical significance.The paper studies OPC specifications,designs a system to integrate two different kinds of SCADA subsystems,and eventually implements the integration of process control and enterprise management.Firstly,the paper introduces the historical backdrop,the current position,and the future tendency of OPC specifications.Secondly,the paper describes the principles of OPC,including COM,DCOM,OLE,etc.,and introduces the application object-the overview of the straightening machine and its control system,then designes synchronous communication and asynchronous OPC examples and explores the OPC client program development process. At last,at the basis of the above analysis,the paper designs a set of procedures,which is used to connect upper and lower expert system for PLC systems or Wincc monitoring and control system data communication in fully Hydraulic straightening machine automation system.On the principles of OPC,the author uses Visual Basic 6.0 to develop a client application on the upper management level,which can read the process data of Lower-level process control layer.During the process,the paper introduces the connectivity of SIMATIC NET server and lower PLC communications.Also,the author uses EXCEL to develop applications to read data.The successful implement of the said system effectively proves that OPC technology plays an important role in the management and control integration.
