With much persistent organic pollutants, the rubber accelerator industrial wastewater has bad biodegradability, a great variation of water quality and quantity and high salt content, therefore it is difficult to treat this kind of wastewater effectively with bio-chemical method. It is essential to increase the biodegradability of rubber accelerator wastewater by pretreatment.It is a new treatment technology to use modified diatomite for municipal sewage and industrial wastewater, which has high performance ,low construction investment, etc; with a simple process, low-cost processing, iron-carbon internal electrolysis possess has many advantages like effectively removal of pollutants and waste water biodegradability improvement in the biological treatment of wastewater pre-treatment. In this experiment, the pretreatment of rubber accelerator wastewater was studied by combining modified diatomite and iron-carbon internal electrolysis approach.The main contents and conclusions of experiments include :(1) The efficiency of modified diatomite with homemade inorganic polymer coagulant A and B were compared by changing ratio and methods of wastewate, the experiment results showed that: The mixing method is superior to coating method; the treatment of mixing with coagulant A is superior to that of B, and its content should be controlled in 40% to 60%.(2) By the experiment of single factor, the best reaction conditions of rubber accelerator wastewater treated by modified diatomite (mix with aluminum coagulant A) are indicated that: the dosage of modified diatomite 5 g/L, pH value 6, fast stirring 2 min, slow stirring 20 min, best settlement reaction time being 60 min. COD removal can reach up to 54.41%.(3) The best reaction conditions treated by iron-carbon internal electrolysis are as follows: with the initial pH value being 4 , residence time 45min, the iron-carbon ratio 1:1, COD removal rate can reach up to 46.1% , and B/C raise from 0.25 to 0.4.(4) In the best conditions, the results of assembling modified diatomite and carbon-iron internal electrolysis technology are: with the removal rate of COD being 74.55%, pH of effluent water 8~9, biodegradability can be increased from 0.25 to 0.53.(5) By the analysis of SEM, IR, UV, LC/MS and other test methods, the results indicated that: after the pretreatment of modified diatomite, iron-carbon internal electrolysis and the combinatorial technique of them , the pollutant concentration of rubber accelerator industrial wastewater was greatly reduced, and the biodegradability was obviously improved.
