Some oilfield blocks have entered the high-water-cut stage which, if continue, will not only affects the output, but also the reservoir development life after years of development in the west of South China Sea. Thereby, how to plug the water or control water for high inclination wells has become the researching focus in the west oilfield of South China Sea. The paper analyses the water-out factors, designs a conceptual model and simulates the water-out law by using numerical simulator Eclipse, based on the reservoir features, the well conditions and mechanism analysis of water-out of high inclination well in the west oilfields of South China Sea. And then, some plugging agents suitable for high inclination wells were selected, and the effects of the same type plugging agents were compared, according to the characteristics, plugging mechanism, plugging flexibility of plugging agents and its matched chemical agents. On the aspect of operation technology, the paper introduces us how to select well, how to use the equipments, how to optimize the water shut-off strings, how to research and develop matched downhole tools, how to design the operation parameters. Meanwhile, an economics evaluation, water shut-off effectiveness prediction and monitoring are discussed before and after operation. At last, the paper analyses two-well's water shut-off cases, one is mechanical water shut-off of W12-1-A14 well, the other is chemical water shut-off of W11-4-C2 Well, which are high inclination wells in the west oilfield of South China Sea. The two cases will offers us the reference for us to optimize and adjust the following water shut-off technology.
