Isopropyl mercaptan is an important chemical material or pharmaceutical intermediate as one of the most important products belonging to the series low-carbon mercaptans. It has a significant position in the field of pesticide synthesis and is widely applied to the preparation of a variety of pesticides, fungicides. In recent years, the market demand has been increasing steadily, and has aroused attention from both home and abroad. At present, the synthesis methods to prepare isopropyl mercaptan are mainly the gas-phase method, which includes that the substitution reaction between isopropanol and hydrogen sulfide under the influence of the solid catalyst; the addition reaction between propylene and hydrogen sulfide in the presence of catalyst. These methods need high-level equipment, processes are complicated and production costs are high. Thiourea-method is the most traditional one among the liquid phase synthesis methods, which is complex and difficult to operate. In this paper, one step synthesis of isopropyl mercaptan with sodium hydrosulpfide was studied; the optimum reaction condition to the synthesis of isopropyl mercaptan was found by single factor experiments and orthogonal experiments; the quantitative analysis method of isopropyl mercaptan was studied; Kinetics of synthesizing isopropyl mercaptan from NaHS and isopropyl bromide by the effect of catalyst was studied, the reaction order, the rate constants and the activation energy were determined; The density and viscosity of binary mixture solution of isopropyl bromide and alcohol were also studied; The basic data will be supplied the industrial production of isopropyl mercaptan.
