Herbicide - fertilizer function compound (fertilizer with herbicide) is the combination of herbicide and fertilizer mainly with fertilizer. It is unified the plant protection of herbicide and the nutritional function of fertilize, saves labor, and reduces production costs. This paper discussed the compatibilities between the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl herbicides and chemical fertilizers, the absorption and desorption of the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl in the clay minerals. The preparation of compound fertilizers with herbicide was surveyed from such raw materials as the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl herbicides, as well as urea, potash fertilizers, white clay and talc. Comprehensive and detailed study of the granulation procedure and technology, and nutrient release mechanism were discussed. It is very important for the depth development and promotion applications of the fertilizer with herbicide. The researches and analysis for this topic are conducted as followings:(1)The compatibilities between the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl herbicides and chemical fertilizers were described. In accordance with the principle of mixed-fertilizers and herbicides, we studied its effects in the state of dissolution. Experimental results show that the concentration of the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl does not affect their basic effect. they can be used with urea, potassium sulfate and potassium chloride. When they are used with ammonium chloride, potassium nitrate and diammonium phosphate, their efficacy will be lower.(2)The adsorption and desorption of the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl in the clay minerals were researched. The chemical properties of white clay and talc were analyzed. The pattern of the adsorption/desorption was found out, and the adsorption model was established. The adsorption capacity order of the mefenacet and bensulfuron-methyl in the clay minerals is: white clay> talc.(3)The granulation procedure and technology of compound fertilizers with herbicide in laboratory were discussed. According to the principles of mutual effect, we compounded herbicides, fertilizers, dispersing agent and the adhesive to granulate compound fertilizers, which the circular granulator was for major equipment and fertilizers were based on the original form (powder, granule and liquid). The amount of herbicides and wrapped material, drying temperature and other factors were determined through a series of tests.(4)The properties of the compound fertilizers with herbicide were determined and analyzed, such as: the relation between the amount of the herbicide and particulates' compression strength, collapse time, and dispersion area, the choice of the wrapped materials, the effect to the temperature of the materials by the water components, etc. Through orthogonal experiments, three elements which affected the particulates' compresstion strength, collapse time, and dispersion area were analyzed, and they were: the amount of the herbicide, the amount of the wrapped material and the water component in the granulates. A good condition for granulation was found through the experiments.(5)The nutrient release mechanisms of the fertilizers with herbicides were discussed. In the soaking experiment, the dissolution rates of the three compound fertilizers are all faster. The relation among all kinds of active ingredients is relatively small; In the leaching experiments, nutrient release rates of the three compound fertilizers are different.
