As the development tendency of aircraft is high performance and long life, the whole rib-web forging with light weight and high strength is increasingly needed. But the structure of the rib-web forging is complicated, it tends to appear forging detects such as filling dissatisfaction, poor flow line, folding and wear flow among the forming process, which gives new challenges to the forming technology of the complicated whole rib-web forging. In order to obtain high-quality forging, preform design plays an important role in forging process. How to design pre-forging and the die forging of pre-forging is the key to ensure the forging quality.A new method of the preform design for the aviation rib-web forging was presented in this work. A software of preform design was secondly developed based on the software platform of Pro/E. The technology of pre-forging and finish forging for the support beam of aircraft's landing gear were investigated using software DEFORM-3D.The main contents are as follows:1.The forging character and common forging defects of rib-web forging were analyzed. According to the structure of rib-web forging, the mathematical model for the typical H-shaped, T-shaped, U-shaped pre-forging section were established. Based on the principle of equal area, the perform design of rib-web forging was proposed.2.The perform design of rib-web forging based on the software of Pro/E was developed using VB language. It was composed of three modules. They were the modules for obtaining the section information of the finish forging, modules for calculating the section of pre-forging, modules for generating the pre-forging. Using the software of perform design, the forging for the support beam of landing gear was perform designed.3. Material constitutive model of the forging was established through the thermal simulation experiment. The forging process about the pre-forging for the support beam of landing gear was numerically simulated using software DEFORM-3D. The influence of perform design on the forging's deform uniformity, forming load and Metal flow was studied. The simulated results show that preform design can improve the uniformity of forging deformation, reduce the forming load in the forging process, make the metal flow of forging more smoothly and reduce the forging defects.
