Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a large class of water-soluble polymers with low cost, and it is also a typical crystalline polymer. It has excellent mechanical properties and adjustable surface activity. Its good properties about water-soluble,adhesion,film-forming determine its leading role compared to other polymers. In addition, its unique structure of multi-hydroxy-chain make the formation of hydrogen bonds and chemical functional groups modification so easy. The products obtained through the process have a pretty wide range of applications, taking textile,dyeing and oil industries for instance. Polyvinyl alcohol is used as good and suitable raw materials for anti-sloughing agent in the field of oil drilling exploration and development. It can be used to make liquid anti-sloughing agent but has demonstrated poor physical properties such as that of inferior water-proof,heat-resisting,solvent resistant as well as property of creep-resistant in practical application which constrains the practical application of PVA in such kind of area seriously.After undergoing the processing of degradation about PVA, its degraded product also can have cationic modification process which can get us changed functional groups in PVA and final products. The final cationic products obtained can still be used as oil anti-sloughing agent in oil drilling field and the new formed one show excellent anti-sloughing property together with good inhibition,compatibility property added with its lubrication and salt resistance. The final product show no fluorescence light witch do good to oil drilling absolutely and satisfy the need of the logging requirements. Different kinds of products make of Polyvinyl alcohol act as new representative in the oil drilling field, and they have great prospects to be used in this area. Although scientists have done a lot of researches and great works in this filed, a number of products made from PVA have been developed, some of which have been put into practical application. Specific degradation parameters range in the process of degradation required fiercely, the same requirements for preparation conditions given through scientific exploration and optimization in details. We need accurate and precise quantitative criteria processes but some simple experiential summarizationWe can add different amount of hydrogen peroxide dosage into the reaction container in the presence of alkaline solution. We can get specific solution with its pH of that approximately at 9,outer pressure maintaining latm together with a tempreture range of 76~94℃. Degraded raw materials with set degree of polymerization are obtained through such operation followed by cation reaction with ethanolamine and concentrated hydrochloric acid as cationic reagent.Optimization of degradation and cationic conditions are achieved by variance methord and a good performance of new cationic anti-sloughing agent is synthesized under certain kind of experimental cnditions. The Optimum conditions were as follows:the adding volume of concentrated hydrochloric acid is 1.5ml under the premise of adding amount of cationic reagent 1.5ml, the reaction temperature is 85℃, the reaction time is around 4h, the cationic degree of product got finally can reach 37.52%.
