Stepper Motor is widely used in the industry control area because of the ability of controlling the position of mechanism accurately. The thesis focuses on VR stepper motor and do research on the speed control during the acceleration and deceleration phase based on EDA technology and VHDL programming language.At first, the thesis introduces the current development status of stepper motor and set the research direction of this paper. Then goes to the basic knowledge and principle of stepper motor and programmable logic device, all about this provides the scientific foundation for the thesis.In order to achieve the aim at controlling the stepper motor accurately, after getting deep understanding of the motion regularity of motor, I design a pulse generation method which could be continuously adjusted. VHDL is chosen as programming language. Programmable logic device CPLD is chosen as the hardware device for the design, the plentiful resource and ISP property provide flexibility and efficiency to designer.The whole system is divided into several modules, which offers convenience to the understanding of it and the maintenance of system. For each module, specific program is given and the simulation for each module demonstrates that the design is correct. Besides, the pure digital design schema makes the system more reliable, more compact and easy to be debugged.
