Modeling and controlling of STATCOM are fundamental work in developing STATCOM devices.A novel controller of STATCOM to meet the multi-objective demands of power systems is also proposed in this dissertation,and the difficulty of STATCOM controller design for multi-objective.As an example, an STATCOM controller is developed for a single machine to infinite bus system with an STATCOM connected in the middle of the transmission lines.Simulation results show that the controller has good performance whenever a large disturbance or a small perturbance occurs in the power system.The main research content and achievement of this article are as follows:(1) Elaborated the instantaneous voltage RMS concept and the instantaneous current RMS concept.This concept not only is the necessary analysis means to the power system with FACTS devices,but also is the necessary means to design of excellent performance FACTS device controller.(2) Pointed out the importance of shunt compensation in the power system.. Furthermore,The role of shunt compensation in the power system are emphatically studied and analyzed.(3) The principle of STATCOM is introduced in this thesia. The paper introduced not only the circuit configuration of STATCOM,also the technical means of effectively eliminate the harmonic,increase the inverter capacity,raise the voltage level at the same time. The steady and dynamic models for STATCOM are derived. The paper investigated the steady-state power and the steady-state current.According to the physical model and mathematical model, we model two emulate system architectures.(4) This article is designed for the various single-objective controller of STATCOM. By analyzing the simulation results, we have come to the reversible system PI control strateg has good compensation effect in voltage maintaining.(5) The paper describes a interactive multi-objective decision-making method which is based on Goal satisfaction, and the method can meet the requirements of design method of STATCOM which is suit for multi-objective of power system. Though the simulation, the result is that whether on large interference or on small interference, the designed controller is of good function. The optimization process of the method is simple and practical, and it will be developmental.
