In the steel smelting process, the aspects of iron ore sintering and cooling produce a great deal of waste heat, If the waste heat of exhaust gas comes from sintering cooling can be effectively recovery and utilization, it has very important realistic meanings for steel industry's energy saving, environmental improvement, develop recycling economy and achieve sustainable development. For the purpose of carrying out the research project of the sintered ring cooler's waste heat recovery, it is necessary to study the temperature field and flow field of it. Establishing the mathematical model of Sintered ring cooler aims to make use of appropriate mathematical tools in the ring cooler to get a math structure to descript the ring cooler's flow and temperature fields, to study the fluid flow how to impact the waste heat recovery; the heat transfer, to study and analyze the temperature distribution how to impact ring cooler's waste heat recovery. The main research object of this thesis is the air's heat transfer and flow problem while the air flowing through sintered ring cooler. In the thesis, the author have introduced the working principle of sintering ring cooler, it's heat generation and utilization, the porous media and fractal theory. In the thesis, the author also makes a detailed description of computational fluid dynamics theory and commonly used software Fluent. According to the above-mentioned theory knowledge, the author have study process of high temperature gas's heat transfer and flow in sintered ring cooler material layer. Considering the interact inFluent of flow and heat transfer, the author have used partial thermal equilibrium assumption to establish a mathematical model of heat transfer about the fluid in porous media, and conducted numerical calculation. In the thesis, the author have studied flow rate, gas temperature and pressure changes in the sintered ring cooler with different porous media porosity and thermal conductivity, compared and analyzed the calculated results with field test results. The results of study have certain reference function for the design and operation of sintered ring cooler and waste heat boiler.
