Combining with the research on the engineering examples of LuTu lead-zinc mine shaft reconnaissance in Bao Shan and Long Shan metallurgy mine of Kunming iron and steel group Co., LTD, with the method of geotechnical and mechanics, this paper has analyzed what is the main reason controls the quality level and shear strength of limestone rock-mass. And the mathematical simulation method is used as well. Compared with other methods, this paper points out that which method is superior. In the meanwhile, this paper has established the relationship between the shearing strength and the investigation. This result has a certain reference value in the production practice.Based on the data of LuTu lead-zinc mine shaft which called ZK1, the limestone rock-mass quality level is classified by more mature methods now on hand. After the analysis of a large number of data, the paper comes to a conclusion that the quality level of rock mass depends not only on rock's saturated uniaxia compressive strength, the level and connection of fracture, but also on the groundwater and the main plane of weakness and the natural ground-stress. This paper draws lessens from the idea of rock-mass block index (RBI), the calculation indicates that the method of RBI can make up for a deficiency of the rock quality designation (RQD) method.So, it is a reasonable method to classify the rock-mass quality level.With limestone rock slope as the research object, this paper tries to find out how to choose the shear strength of rock-mass through the basic material study. Based on the first-hand data analysis of the 36 slopes, and use the numerical simulation method as well, this thesis shows clearly that the relationship between the angle of internalfriction (φp) of rock-mass and the slope's height is obviously. They have an logarithmic relationship.Theφvalue and the rock integrity coefficient have an linear relationship.But the relationship between theφvalue and the slope's height is not clearly. From the experience on the other hand, this paper still think they both have a relationship, that is, if the slope angle becomes larger the shear strength of rock-mass also gets stronger.
