The distribution of the residual stress in the switch rail has become an important target when switch rail is checked out to be qualified or not. Each production engineering has effects on the distribution of the residual stress. The dissertation focus on the growth and development of the residual stress in the whole cooling process through modeling and experiment. The dissertation comprehensively narrates and sums up the rule of the residual stress. And the dessertation find a new way to study on the residual stress in the cooling process only. The main achievements are as follows:1. Asynchronism of the cooling and phase transition make switch rail have uneven temperature distribution, then it has effects on the residual stress.2. Velocity of cooling has a great impact on the residual stress. The velocity is larger, and the residual stress is smaller.3. The uneven plastic deformation is the fundamental factor of the produce of the residual stress.4. It is proved that U71Mn rail has small residual stress than U74V rail through modeling and experiments. The author made experiments to provide real data on residual stress, and it's proved to be consentaneous with results calculated by Ansys.
