Urban Waterfront Landscape Space Situational Study

In recent years, China have witnessed the mushroom of urbanization and the reconstruction of landscape culture. the waterfront is increasingly growing the significant part of the construction. Nevertheless, the deficiency in the design of the moden waterfront landscape design has become hard to ignore. For example, there is too much conformity in the design of landscape; aesthetic value is confined to the superficiality; aesthetic sustainability is absent from the considerationThis thesis follows inspired by "feeling and setting happily blended",which is the key idea of Chinese situation aesthetic theory, our research attempts to probe some new ideas of the moden waterfront landscape. Currently, there are many waterfront is under renewal or will be constructed. When we plan and design waterfront landscape, we cannot simply imitate and copy previous work. We are expected to make improvement to design such unforgettable waterfront landscape that resonate people and aspire people. Therefore, the plan and design of waterfront landscape have to be improved to reached a new gradation and level, that is, to pursuie create situation.By investigating the whole design of the moden waterfront landscape situation, our research expounds three elements of create the moden waterfront landscape situation-scenery, space, context. We put forward the rules and methods of create the moden waterfront landscape situation, and further more, we explain the feasibility of these methods through analyzing cases.In this thesis, our research combining with investigating the case of "Changsha Xiangjiang River waterfront area and Orange Island landscape plan" not only testify its research value and feasibility of create situation in the moden waterfront landscape design but also be valuable for the similar type of the moden waterfront landscape design.
