The limitation to the post-construction settlement of the high-speed railway is increasingly strict, so it is necessary to deeply study the soil's engineering characteristic, to evaluate the foundation stabilization effect, and to analyse the rationality of the used foundation treatment method,which would help to meet the requirements of strength and deformation for composite foundation. The research object taken by this paper was the soil of South Wenzhou station test section in Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway and Zhenjiang test section in Shanghai-Nanjing inter city railway, and this paper adopted the method of combining the laboratory soil test, indoor model test, in-situ test, field observation and mathematical statistics, conducting indepth analysis and research on soil engineering characteristics, the correlation between physical and mechanical indexes, foundation stabilization effect, and the influence of composite foundation soil to engineering properties, the major results can be summarized as follow:(1) Based on a large number of experimental laboratory soil test and in-situ test data, this paper analysed and studied the physical and mechanical properties of soil and space distribution rule in the test field of Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou passenger special line and Shanghai-Nanjing inter-city railway, revealing the basic characteristics of foundation soil, which provided the basis for the engineering design and settlement calculation;(2) This paper adopted mathematical statistics knowledge, conducted in-depth analysis and research on the correlation of the soil physical mechanics indexes, and established a regression equation, revealing the correlation of each index, which provided a visual, convenient and effective method to determine legitimate value of soil physical and mechanical properties index in some areas;(3) With the engineering properties of soil in test section,this paper analysed the rationality of the used foundation treatment program;(4) Based on the data of laboratory soil test, indoor model test and field in-situ test, the paper analysed and evaluated the stabilization effect of composite foundation on the soft foundation in high-speed railway, and discussed what caused the variation of soil engineering properties resulted from foundation reinforcement.
