Structure Design Of Porous Asphalt Pavement

Porous asphalt pavement is a class of the asphalt pavement structure, which refers to a larger porosity of the mixture as the layer of pavement structure, allowing the surface water into the pavement (or subgrade). Such pavement structure with large air voids makes rainwater penetration directly to replenish urban groundwater and improve the urban ecological environment. In addition, porous asphalt pavement has many other advantages, such as:reducing water pollution, reducing surface runoff, noise reduction, mitigating urban heat island effect and so on. In this paper, referring to the research results of porous asphalt pavement at home and abroad, it focuses on structure design of porous asphalt pavement.First of all, the process of structure design of porous asphalt pavement has been given, including infiltration design and checking of bearing capacity. And influencing factors of infiltration design and checking of bearing capacity have been analyzed.Secondly, based on Darcy's law, the quantitative calculation formula of the volume of rainwater infiltration, outflow and temporary storage have been given. Then combining the research results of the permeability coefficient and permeability test at home and abroad, the scope of the permeability coefficient of structure layers and permeability test equipment have been recommended.Then, combining the research results of the structure layers of porous asphalt pavement at home and abroad, the main control indexes of surface course, filter course, base course, bedding course, impermeable course and geotextile have been summed up during the design process.In the end, based on the structure research of porous asphalt pavement in the United States, combining the structural characteristics of asphalt pavement in our country and the corresponding specifications, the structure types of porous asphalt pavement have been classified, and the structural design methods of porous asphalt pavement have also been made. Besides, the applicability of porous asphalt pavement has been studied, including the social and economic benefits analysis and geographical sensitivity.
