The steel and concrete composite girder with concrete filled tubular up-flange (SCCGCFTF) is a new kind of structure, whose research is very little at home and abroad. With the purpose of better understanding the physical properties of SCCGCFTF, this paper carried out its theoretical and applied research, specifically as follows:1. Based on the existing literature and experiments, some assumptions for the cross-section of SCCGCFTF has bean made. According to the basic theory of mechanics of materials, formulas for the elastic ultimate bearing capacity of normal section which withstand bending moment and shear, elastic-plastic ultimate bearing capacity of cross-section and elastic deformation are derived; based on the literature survey, the shear buckling failure mode and the corresponding formula of the composite girder steel web are summarized2. A finite element model of SCCGCFTF was established by using ANSYS, nonlinear static parameter analysis was presented. The parameters include wall thickness of the tubular, web height and web thickness of the girder. Analysis result shows the iMPact on the failure mode and the working performance of SCCGCFTF.3. On the basis of existing research results at home and abroad, the processes of production to the construction of SCCGCFTF were analyzed and summarized. Formula derived by the preceding analysis have bean used to analyze how to design the size of the cross-section and how long the SCCGCFTF should be on the actual loads in bridge engineering. Finally the requirements on the Construction of SCCGCFTF bridge structure are raised4. The different performance between SCCGCFTF and I-beam cross-section in different cross-section equivalent method are coMPared. Two projects were presented for analysing two kinds of cross-section girder bridges' static characteristics and dynamic characteristics, and then the economic performance of the two projects were explored.
