During building the reinforced concrete structure, the construction joint ("CJ") is unavoidable, because continuous casting is difficult and can't come true. Nowadays the"CJ"should be put in which the shear is less and it's easy for construction, that is consensus. The"CJ"damage of Wenchuan Earthquake indicates, however, that the location and the method of"CJ"can't make sure that the members have great seismic behavior, it easily forms the weakness of the structure and fails when the earthquake hits. Therefore, research on the"CJ"is not enough and a little neglectConsidering the axial compress ratio, volume-stirrup ratio and the shear-to-depth ratio, four contrast group are provided. The frame columns are under static cyclic load test, and the contrasts and comparisons of failure pattern between with"CJ"and without"CJ"is discussed, and the influence of seismic behavior caused by the"CJ"is investigated.①If the parameters are the same, the failure process, failure characteristic and failure model are almost similar. However, existence of the"CJ"influences the seismic behavior and failure pattern of members, the influential extent is different according to the load..②Yield strength with"CJ"is weaker than without"CJ", but yield displacement with"CJ"is larger than without"CJ", therefore existence of"CJ"is a weak part of whole structure, it's easier for structure with"CJ"to yield or fail than without"CJ".③For members of small shear-to-depth ratio, failure patterns of with"CJ"and without"CJ"are different, the failure shear dislocation contains the dislocation along the oblique crack and the"CJ".④Axial compress ratio significantly differs the seismic performance of members with"CJ"and without"CJ". However, the volume ratio and shear-to-depth doesn't differ them.⑤For members with"CJ", the more stirrup ratio, the stronger seismic performance of members, but the increased range is limited.
